In a world where news is often dominated by conflict, I feel it is essential to share a story of exceptional service and human kindness that my colleagues and I experienced recently right here in Brant County.

Returning late at night from a business networking event, our vehicle suffered a mechanical failure. We found ourselves stranded in an extremely dark, isolated location. As the temperature plummeted and no passing cars stopped to help, our situation became increasingly stressful. Fearing for our safety in the pitch black, we called for police assistance.

Within 25 minutes, a cruiser pulled up behind us. Out stepped Provincial Constable Mike Logozny of the Brant County OPP Detachment. From the moment he approached us, it was clear that his primary concern was our safety and well-being.

Seeing that we were freezing, Officer Logozny immediately offered us the warmth of his cruiser. While three adults in the back of a police car isn’t the standard definition of comfort, the next two hours were filled with wonderful conversation that turned a frightening ordeal into a memorable experience.

When the tow truck finally arrived, we learned it could only accommodate one passenger. Without hesitation, Officer Logozny offered to drive the rest of our group to a major location where an Uber could safely reach them. He even went as far as helping transfer our belongings into the Uber himself.

Officer Mike Logozny is the true definition of the motto “To Serve and Protect.” He acted not just as an officer, but as a “super gentleman” and a guardian of the community. We often take our first responders for granted, but that night, we were reminded of the character and heart behind the uniform.

To the Brant County OPP: thank you for having such a dedicated professional on your team. And to Officer Mike: a sincere and heartfelt thank you from all of us.
